Many years ago I was told that every once in awhile a perfect car came off the assembly line – where every part came together serendipitously as the blueprint anticipated. With the tightening of the corporate belt, some have expressed loss and upset with their cruise experiences. One of our past Celebrity cruises was marred by a garlic-crazy kitchen staff. I was beginning to lose faith in my favorite line. This cruise was like that “perfect” car. Everything fell into place where I feel we experienced our best cruise vacation ever.
We arrived a day early in San Juan and enjoyed an afternoon at the beach staying at the quaint Tres Palmas Guest House. Dinner was a short walk over to Kasalta's, a neighborhood institution that did not disappoint.
We taxied to the Summit at the Pan American Pier (not the downtown piers) noon-ish and were aboard momentarily, beating the crowd. The ship was not scheduled to depart until 8:30 PM. We took advantage of the Oveanview Café, the pool, and our “1-2-3” drink package. We generally had no difficulty finding a server throughout the trip.
The room was very spacious, the bed turned 90 degrees to open the space by the window. Gone was the large chest of drawers and occasional chairs we’d experienced on other ships. We still had plenty of storage for clothes and whatnot. There was a small settee that concealed a single-sized folding bed. The room was in good repair. The bath standard issue. No odor issues or noise. Convenient to elevators, gangway on deck one.
