There are many plusses about the Breakaway, but a few things were very disappointing:
1. Management must think that turning the volume up on every event (shows, games, announcements, etc.)makes it better. It doesn't. The Atrium is constantly at decibles that hurt the ears. Since the Service Desk, Excursion Desk, Registration Desk are just off the Atrium, it was impossible to talk to the crew member across the desk because of the volume in the Atrium. I could not hear them and they could not hear me.
At dinner one night, the piano player/vocalist was so loud we could not hear the waiter nor could he hear us. We asked that he turn the volume down, but he just called the Maitre D' who laughed and said "I can't do that". The same is true for the pool area, Spice H20, and the Theater. Of course it was somewhat expected at the Rock show, but even that was ridiculously loud. A reasonable volume level would have made everything much more enjoyable.
The cabin was smaller than on other NCL and RCL ships, but well appointed and plenty of storage space for the two of us. Closet was difficult to get to as the edge of the bed was about 12 inches from the sliding closet doors. The safe worked fine. The absence of at least one active electrical outlet (while away from the stateroom) was annoying. The king size bed was very comfortable. The A/C was effective, but could not activate a blower motor for circulation. The bathroom and shower were fine with plenty of storage, good water pressure, and good shower controls.
