We have not long returned from a week's cruise on the Thomson 'Majesty', where do I start?? Firstly, everything I have highlighted in this review has been brought to the attention of Thomsons via a very lengthy letter of complaint complete with photographic evidence. Should I receive a positive response from Thomsons I will of course update this review. They have told me they aim to reply within 28 days.

My biggest gripe is the standard of cleanliness aboard this ship, it is quite disgusting. The cabin was absolutely filthy; the minute we set foot in it, the stench of sewage would have knocked you flat on your back. It went downhill thereafter, months worth of crumbs and dust on the side of the bed frame, debris and broken glass on the floor (that lay there the whole week), filthy vent, grime all along the skirting, mould all over the shower, stained toilet seat, I could go on. In the public areas, as other reviewers have mentioned, cleaners used the same cloths for a variety of jobs, this will surely only lead to cross-contamination of germs? I found it farcical that every time you entered a dining area your hands were forcibly sanitised, if Thomsons took responsibility for the cleanliness of the ship this would not be necessary, they are contributing to the problem.

Moving onto dining. When we booked our holiday, we were not asked for any dining preferences. We discovered that you are expected to share tables with other parties when dining in waiter service dining rooms. They have very few tables for two and, the night we did request one, we were kept waiting for 40 minutes. The food, at best, is average and the portion sizes woeful. The buffet restaurants were a farce, no better than a works' canteen (in fact my works' canteen is far superior.) Long queues for food, even if you managed to find a table, 9 times out of 10 they hadn't been cleaned.
