We have sailed on royal six times over the years. Five times were great ( Jewel of the seas is a great ship and crew) one time was awful. On November 29th my wife and I sailed out of Tampa FL. on the Vision of the seas. This was our third cruise in 2014. 1. Brilliance of the Seas out of Tampa 2. Grand Princess out of Seattle Washington. 3.Vision of the seas out of Tampa. Wow did the Vision suck from the start. When we first boarded this old ship, a trip to the windjammer was our first clue that cost cutting was the mission statement for this ship. One buffet was open with a line down each side and different items on each side. This led to waiting in one line getting your very limited tasteless food and then waiting in the other line to get to the other items. We had to clean off our table as servers where not in attendance. I guess the servers asking for a drink order (Ice tea, water and such) is no longer available on Royal "Cost cutting is our greatest concern" Caribbean cruise lines. My lovely wife commented that all the different food items tasted the same. We suspect a communal marinade vat in the galley. Okay enough about the windjammer. Next came the lifeboat drill fiasco. We were line up in rows on the west side of the ship, facing into the full afternoon sun and left to bake for twenty minutes while crewmembers (not facing the sun) struggled to check everybody off their paper list. Every other ship afloat scans your seapass card and holds drills in the theatre. We survived but it felt like this was the first training cruise for most of the crew. Maybe this is a training ship that charges real ship prices. Carver
