My wife and I have cruised with Royal Caribbean on two other occasions, 2005 on the Majesty and 2006 aboard the Serenade. Our first two experiences were great and we were convinced to try the Liberty with family and a couple who were long time cruisers and Diamond members of the Crown and Anchor Society.

I was excited to see the new upgrades with the touch screen monitors by the elevators/stairs, larger stateroom television with interactive abilities, and just being on a larger ship. However, I was highly disappointed at the Windjammer with the same breakfast, same lunch, and same dinner options every single night. In years past there was some diversity and it would be hard to get bored with the food. Granted, I understand having to feed the masses and it wasn't the quality of the food I took issue with. I was also appalled at how the photography staff acted towards the guests. More than once I was "corrected" on how to take a photograph and was told twice to take my hand off my wife.

The ship itself has a major design flaw. If you are on deck two towards the front of the ship you can not just go down to deck two at the front of the ship to your cabin. Instead, you have to go to the fourth deck via the rear of the ship and walk through the casino to go down. This was blamed on the ice skating rink, but in reality the staff area is what blocks this and several times guests were escorted through this area due to complaints. The deck plans do not reflect this either and apparently Royal Caribbean does not discuss this with travel agents either.

Oceanview Stateroom

Cabin H

This room is pretty standard as far as staterooms go. There are a nice variety of mirrors from the vanity to the outside of the bathroom that help with getting dressed. The hair dryer is located in the top drawer near the refrigerator at the vanity. We had at least 15 wooden hangars with a variety of styles in the closet along with plenty of room for our luggage. The bathroom is actually quite nice as it is well lit and has enough cabinet storage for two guests. The shower is circular with two semi-circular doors that close around the guest as they step inside. The shower itself was probably only three feet in diameter, but was still easy enough to shower. The controls were nice as well with the heat being turned and a button pressed allowing the heat to be increased. This setting could be maintained and the water merely being shut off with the main dial at center. The shower also features the standard clothesline for bathing suits. The view is about twenty feet above the waterline, but still provided us with some nice views. The port hole is a larger one with no obstructions and looks directly out of the ship (not located on a deck.) The water noise was minimal and even with 45 mph winds our last night the ship was incredibly stable with just small swaying movements that were the same no matter where you were on the ship.We did hear a bit of noise from the Studio B ice skating rink, but our hallway was quiet at night every night. During the day there was a bit of traffic from the service staff and always carts in the hallway we had to navigate around.
