My sister and I cruised on the January 7-17, 2015 Regent Navigator out of Miami. We booked the least expensive run of the ship fare and were hoping for an upgrade due to her Gold Level (75+ nights) and my Silver Level (25+ nights) status on Regent. We got what we paid for and the cabin was on deck 5 near the compass Rose restaurant with a large window. We wouldn’t have been able to use the balcony as it turned out except for one day in a port that was not on the original itinerary due to rough seas. The cabin was excellent in every way and the service outstanding.

We sailed out of Miami and flew into Miami International Airport, an enormous facility. My sister flew from California and I from New York. Regent made out flight arrangements (included in the price of the cruise). The arrangements were horrible. Next time on a cruise leaving from a domestic port in the US, we will make our own flight arrangements and then take advantage of the many hotels in the area that offer reasonably priced pre-cruise hotel packages with transportation from the airport to the hotel and then to the port. Last year we cruised on the Mariner out of Venice and we upgraded to Business Class and the arrangements were not an issue because we spent five days in Florence before the cruise.

The Captain adjusted the itinerary because we could not use tenders due to choppy seas for the ports for Turks and Caicos, so we were diverted to Frederiksted in St. Croix instead. The place to see was a long and expensive taxi ride into Christiansted. Regent left us there with the suggestion that we take taxis on our own without any guidance as to taxi fares, etc. and no reimbursement for the all-inclusive tours, etc. offered. Although we booked the least expensive cabin, this is still a very expensive cruise. There was absolutely nothing to do in the run-down US owned island.

Cabin was in an excellent location, mid ship, stepgs away from the main Compass Rose restaurant with a self service laundry nearby. Next time I will bring fabric softener sheets along. Detergent is supplied by Regent and the use of the facility is free.
