January 10, 2015 was my 26th cruise on Carnival and will be the last one on the Sunshine. Don't be fooled by their marketing, this is an OLD ship with a bad face lift. The common areas are too small for the number of passengers. You will experience problems getting an elevator, a table to sit in the eating areas, places to sit in the comedy club and the show theatre. On sea days, which we had 3.5, long story, you must get out before 8 a.m. if you want a lounge chair in the Serenity areas.
The air conditioning is not working well on the ship. Every night at midnight, the temperature in the cabins appears to raise by at least 5 degrees. Many guest on the ship were complaining about the temperatures and were all told these were "acceptable levels". This is the first time since 1985 that I was actually hot on a cruise ship and not wearing a jacket.
The ship has many areas, including my balcony, that is severly rusted.
Stay off the 8th floor ALT!!! You will rock with the band until 2:00 A.M. then wake up at 6 A.M. from chairs being moved and the smell of onions being cooked. Tiny room, hot, noisy, not the standard Carnival balcony.
