Sail Date: Jan 2015
Cabin: Mid-Ship Oceanview Stateroom with Large Picture Window

I was a single traveler on the Breakaway leaving New York on January 4th and returning January 16th. My overall rating of this ship would be a 3.5. Let me break it down in categories' so you can learn what I learned.

Accommodations: Booked Dec. 15th and got good a great rate. Solo traveler so got an Oceanview room on Deck 5 Mid. Great room for one. However only saw cabin attendant 6 times the whole trip. He never asked if I need anything or offered to do anything special. One night I had to do my own turndown and call for a guide for the next days activities. He did change towels but never sure about linens. Top cover did have small tears in it. Bed was queen size and very comfortable. Took time but I did figure out the key card runs the electricity and lights in the room. Rate the room 4 out of 5.

Food: Very hit or miss. More misses! Set my dining time for 8:30 because that was what I was use to from other cruises. Does not work here. Most shows are 7 or 9. so your either late or you miss the show if you booked a 9:00. Food service could be slow or fast in the Manhattan Room. Since chances were that you would never get the same server any two nights in a row, you always had to explain if you had dietary issues. I missed having that same waitstaff group like on other ships. It was nice when someone remember what you like to drink or even your name. The menu was repetitive. The best I can say is at times the quality was as good as my local diner. Most times my local dinner food is better. However there were two positive dining experiences. The Uptown grill served the most awesome chopped salad and burgers for lunch. Great spot after being on an excursion or sunbathing. The only other great meal came from Cagney's. I paid the 30.00 but had a marvelous meal. Hence I will get the meal plan the next time I go back.
