The much hyped $80m renovation of the Voyager of the Seas proved to be a major disappointment and a deceptive promotion. The vast majority of that amount was spent adding more cabins, removing recreational areas, and adding retail. This has seen the capacity of the ship increase from 3114 passenger to 3809 on our cruise. This was our second Royal Caribbean cruise and were severely let down. We had booked five cabins between two families and, be the end of the cruise, compiled a list of over 50 issues that served to spoil our time on board. Here are just some of them.

Food: The fare in the Windjammer is bland and tasteless. The variety rarely changes. Who can eat the same things for 14 days? Due to the overcrowding there were often announcements (especially at breakfast) to please eat up and get out of there so that others can come in.

In the main dining room we often encountered dirty table cloths and poorly washed crockery and cutlery.

Cabin G

Our stateroom was comfortable and clean due to the excellent service we received by our attendant, Jai. However, I once had to call for maintenance to fix a blocked toilet and was made to wait 10 minutes on hold.
