I don't normally write reviews after a holiday but felt that i wanted to put in my two cents with all of the other comments on this cruise and cruise line. It is becoming increasingly difficult to weed out the valid reviews from the complainers who seem impossible to please and make an informed decision when booking a vacation.
We just got back from a 12 night cruise on the Norwegian Gem sailing out of New York City and had a truly wonderful time. No not everything was perfect but this was a great vacation for a reasonable amount of money and a vacation that my family will remember for many years to come.
This was our 4th cruise (all taken on different cruise lines).

Mini-Suite with Balcony
Before we left I read hundreds of reviews regarding the Gem and the quality of the food and rooms. Our room was great, yes it could do with a few upgrades to the decor (which I understand are in progress) but the room was clean and well kept, the bathroom was spacious and the beds, bedding and pillows were very comfortable (we were in a balcony mini suite) Storage was adequate and we took lots of clothes.
