Congratulations to Cruise and Maritime For the excellent Cruise on 21st-Dec 5th Jan.to the Canaries and Madeira. My wife and i had a great time and it was excellent value for money. The staff and crew worked so hard too give us a pleasant holiday. The cruise director Richard was excellent and very talented as was all the entertainment staff. The food although not the best you will find on a cruise was in the main good! The Marco Polo now in its 50th year is a really nice old ship you wouldnt know it was 50 though. It is not on parr with youre modern cruise ships but one should not expect it too be, It has its faults with age like most the people who choose to travel on it. Remember the staff have to cope with a lot so give them some credit and dont blame them if they cannot fullfill all youre wishes they are people not miracle workers they can only work under the constraints of Cruise and Maritime and conditions at the time. The crew and staff are very friendly and grateful when you interact pleasantly with them bearing in mind most are eastern european and have to understand our dialects. The sea was very kind too us for the time of year but unfortunately a mass of people fell ill with terrible colds and sore throats.
Again not the ships fault but alas i feel down to the poor personal hygiene of some people i witnessed. You cannot escape the spread of germs but you can help too slow it down! The fireworks on New Years Eve were superb and once again The staff and captain did us proud a ringside seat and a great deck party. thanks also to the weather! The Captain incidentally was extremely hands on approachable and friendly and keeps a good eye on his ship and crew. So i will finish with a point to the moaners i do not know what youre expectations are but they must be very high and uncompromising ! a shame really. K. Kirk. Manchester.
Good cabin no problems Well cleaned by cabin staff a little old but so is the ship.
