My partner and I had a great time on our 7 day cruise out of Galveston last week on the Carnival Magic. While it was pretty cold on our embarkation, the crew did a great job of creating a warm environment while we watched the Cowboys game on the pool deck's movie screen. The weather was cold and windy during our first 2 days and the ship rocked a great deal, but the shows and activities continued as normal and everyone appeared to have fun. We enjoyed many of the shows throughout our trip (loved the comedy store and the casino!) and found the crew to be friendly and helped with our every needs. This was the first time we had an interior room and we loved it because the room could be dark even during the middle of the day. We stopped in Key West first and enjoyed exploring the city on bikes first then on a bus tour. Next we stopped in Freeport and we're not impressed. We took a group taxi to Our Lucaya and found that all the shops had nearly identical products and most of the sales people were aggressive. However, we did pay $15 for each of us to have beach access to the resort across the street (next to the casino) and enjoyed the beach for a few hours. Next we went onto Nassau and took the water jitney for $4 each to an area near Atlantis and walked to the casino (several blocks). We asked about getting a day pass to Atlantis but they said it was $130 each (eeeekkkkk!) so we walked to a beach behind Atlantis which was nice, but it was incredibly windy so we went back to the ship's pier early and enjoyed Señor Frogs.

The only negative thing I can say about the experience was parking in Galveston. We used DCP Parking and when we initially parked, we waited more than 40 minutes in the cold for the shuttle and it was chaotic. When we left the ship, it was raining and we spent more than 45 minutes watching 2 employees struggle to organize upwards of 50 people in groups for shuttles that weren't coming. We won't be parking there again!
