We had a direct flight from LA to Orlando, a red eye. We fly delta because of the first bag free. 1 bag each and a carryon is plenty. We'd never been to Port Canaveral & I was very apprehensive. Because we had a family of 4, we opted to rent a minivan. Initially the prices can be very high where it appears to be to expensive. But, if you you Priceline which we did you can find really great rates. We ended up paying $60 total for our rental. We rented through Budget. It's in the baggage claim area. The ease of a rental allowed us to eat breakfast at Waffle House and stop at Walmart for last minute items we forgot at hm. The drive to the ship is a straight shot and takes about an hour.

Once on the ship we had lunch in Cariocha's. It was buffet style. Staterooms were ready at 1:30. We got an outside room on deck 1, rm1048. Disney really shines with the layouts of their rooms! Everything is laid out so well and I love the bedding/furnishings. The 2 sinks are great for families. Might be the best feature of the room. My wife did reach down for something when the tv was extended, hit her eye pretty hard on tv edge! OUCH. After exploring the ship a bit, I realized it's pretty much just like the WONDER. Which we were on 2 yrs ago to the Mexican Riviera. The ship is well maintained but I was a little sad that everything was the same. I like exploring new ships. If I wanted the Wonder again, I would've booked it. Not sure what kind of coffee Disney uses but it's pretty WEAK! The food on Disney is pretty lackluster. No real standouts, the French Onion soup was delicious. Caution though, extremely hot. The crime brûlée was also good. At breakfast, my family enjoyed the Mango Mountain Hike smoothie. It was really good, the honey was just the right touch. What's not good are potatoes, especially the baked ones. They are very hard. I don't think they actually bake them and the hash browns are routinely over-fried and not drained for grease! We like eating in the maiming dining rooms and don't tend to eat buffet. My kids enjoy the Mickey bar for dessert. The pizzeria on deck 9, I can't say enough good things about! My wife also enjoyed the gyro station. Disney does a pretty good job with shows. Most are pretty entertaining. The pool area musical entertainment lagged this cruise. It was a guy/girl and his guitar. No band, no steel drums, etcetera. There was an older guy playing an electric guitar sometimes in the adult pool area. I enjoyed him.

In Cozumel we booked a Disney Port Adventure, Beach Boogy. In my opinion, not worth the cost. Basically, you drive through Mexico in a dune buggy style jeep to an area of private beach. There you can lay on beach or snorkel, equipment is provided. There is no off-roading, which it thought there would be. Most of the adventure is consumed with getting to/from the beach. Castaway Cay was GREAT! Truly was a perfect day all around. Debarkation was the smoothest we've had in 10 cruises. Fast/efficient. We were off ship by 8:30 & we ate breakfast in dining rm. Simply leave ship & get in your rental car line, a shuttle will pick u up shortly. Be careful, because I was charged a diff fee from what I was originally quoted. I was given some flimsy reason as to why. But I was at the mercy of Budget, I had to get my family back to Orlando. Had I been alone, I would've put up more of a fight, to get the price quoted on my resv.

Cabin Review

Cabin 5A

We liked the cabin a lot, well appointed & the new furnishings were very nice. We would stay in this room again. We always bring ear plugs for any noises in the night.
