My sister and I arrived in New York with our group and were lucky enough to be escorted ahead of a very long line since we were members of Lattitudes. This saved us quite a bit of time. Our cabin was ready approx. 2pm and our luggage came not long after that time. We were a bit disappointed to find that our itinerary had been changed due to one of the engines not running at full capacity. As a result we did not go to Jamaica or Bahamas, but rather visited Key West and gained another day at sea. Six days out of eleven were at sea. Too many days at sea.

After reading many of the previous reviews, we found the Dawn to be a far cry from some of the negative comments. We found the entertainment overall, very good. The food was also very good. If you were not happy with a meal you chose, the wait staff was insistent on bringing you a different choice. We chose the buffet for breakfast the majority of the time and found the choices very appealing. We ate at two of the upgraded restaurants, Cagneys and Bamboo, which were both very nice. We found the crew, for the most part, to be very friendly and accommodating. Our stewards for our room were not very personable, however, they did a nice job. Our room was always clean and made up or down when we requested, however, we did not get the towel animals as often as some of our friends did. Having a balcony was the best. We will never cruise again without one. We did have one of the same complaints that many of the previous reviews expressed and that was the pool area.

There is only one outdoor pool and it seems that people get up very early to get there, throw towels on as many lounge chairs as they can to save seats for their friends. On many occasions, there were no seats available anywhere at pool level or in the stadium levels that they have. We actually had to go to an area to sun where we didn't even have the pool in sight. NCL should really address this problem since we heard numerous complaints from other passengers regarding same problem.
