We have just returned home from our first cruise. Our arrival at Montego Bay airport was a disaster!!!! Hundreds of passengers waiting in a very hot corridor, with no air conditioning, no water and NO THOMSON REP, for TWO HOURS!!! No explanation, no coaches to take everyone to the ship. There was nearly a riot. We were given a £50 credit per person by the Captain as compensation, but this initial experience certainly spoiled the beginning of our cruise.
The cruise itself was very good, the excursions excellent (although a little chaotic). Our cabin was excellent and our cabin steward was lovely. The food on board was very good and the majority of the staff were very helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The ship's air conditioning was too cold, I had to wear a shawl when we were inside in the evenings. The shows were excellent, very professional and enjoyable. Sadly, it was very difficult to get a sunlounger as selfish passengers had "reserved" them with towels and belongings and disappeared for hours!!
Our journey home was not quite a bad as the arrival but Thomson did not control passengers leaving, which meant that three flights of people were allowed off the ship all together to queue (again) in the port building at Montego Bay. I felt really sorry for the lady Thomson rep who was doing her best to control passengers but had to put up with a lot of abuse from angry passengers. We would probably think twice before going on another Thomson cruise. Shame, as this was our honeymoon
Our cabin was very nice. The view from the window was not abliterated by lifeboats which meant we could see out. Our cabin Steward, Munif, was a very nice gentleman who looked after us and the cabin very well.
