SUN PRINCESS - Southern Caribbean Cruise Feb 28th - March 10th, 2007.

We sailed on the Sun Princess out of Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday February 28th, 2007. Our group consisted of 20 people in 9 cabins ranging from category J inside to BA balcony. We did not book any mini-suites or suites. The majority of our group were doing this cruise as a to our Star Princess cruise from Dec 2004 which Jill and I were married while onboard. The age range for our group was from 14yrs old to 60. We all really enjoyed the Star Princess and I was a bit concerned that some of our passengers would be disappointed with the Sun Princess after sailing on one of the Grand class ships. This was also partly due to some negative feedback that we had seen on the cruise boards concerning the condition of the Sun Princess. After sailing on this ship it seems the majority of our group actually preferred the Sun when compared to the Star.

EMBARKATION - The majority of our group stayed at the Ramada Inn Cruiseport Hotel the night prior to the cruise. Since many of us traveled from the snowy northern midwest and did not book airfare thru Princess this was simply a way of fighting any weather related airline delays. We all arrived on time and had a great evening in Fort Lauderdale prior to sailing. The Ramada Inn Cruiseport certainly is not the Taj Majal but it is clean, close to both airport and cruiseport and has a free shuttle to and from both. We took the hotel shuttle to the port at approx 12:30 and were onboard the ship by 1:15. Princess seems to have the embarkation process down to a science and I can't imagine it really being any easier than it was for this cruise.
