This was the 4th cruise for my wife and I and our 3rd on NCL. Our goal was to enjoy the ship as we have been to the Bahamas multiple times. Our last cruise on the Norwegian Epic was great, but we spent the majority of our time on shore excursions.

We arrived in NYC the night before and stayed at the Hyatt Times Square, a short taxi to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. We had dinner at Etcetera Etcetera working our way through the huge crowds as NYC prepared for the New Years Eve celebration.

We arrived at the terminal a few minutes before 11AM which we were told was the earliest we could board the ship. As it turns out, the port terminal was open much earlier and there were already hundreds of people waiting. The process of collecting luggage was quite disorganized and it got no better once inside. There were no clear instructions or guidance as to where to go and the overhead communication was poor. Shortly after noon we were able to board the ship.

Cabin Review

Spa Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B9

The Spa Balcony rooms were not as nice as expected. The TV was small and could not be moved to be seen by the person on the far side of the bed. The TV quality was poor and had only a few channels, all generated from a European satellite. I definitely was not interested in European soccer and cricket. The bed was reasonably comfortable, but there were no firm pillow options. There are no outlets near the bed so if you have a medical device or wish to have your phone charging and nearby you will need to obtain an extension cord from the guest services desk and avoid tripping over the cord if you want to walk to the balcony. The shower was tight for an average person. It would be very difficult to use for a large person. The same applies to the toilet, both in size and ability to flush. The hair dryer is hard wired and located at the end of the room near the balcony, far away from the bathroom, which is a little strange. There was plenty of space to hang clothes, but little to put folded clothes. There was little room to maneuver in the room with 2 people, much less if there were others with you.
