My wife and I have done New Years cruises for the past several years and this was our first time on Celebrity. Our focus on cruises is enjoying the good weather, getting some exercise in, having great meals and catching up on reading. We are not big on the night life or casino although we usually hit a show or two.

We really liked Celebrity and found it to be much better for us than Royal Caribbean. There were plenty of kids on this holiday cruise but far fewer than any of the RC ships we have been on. There is a kids club but much smaller and far less of the ships footprint dedicated to kids events. The Spa pool was adults only and the policy was enforced. We love kids but it was nice on this cruise to not feel that we were a couple of empty nesters in the midst of a family holiday party.

The Aqua class was really great for us. The Blu restaurant was enough, on its own, to justify the up charge for Aqua. We loved dining there and in future would book Aqua again. Our servers were always wonderful and the way the seating is done it is very easy to strike up a conversation with a neighboring table but if you decide not to that works too. The breakfasts here were also great. Other aqua class amenities like the in room snacks, water etc. were fine but nothing that special.

Cabin Review

Aqua Class Balcony

Cabin A1

We booked 6 months in advance directly with Celebrity. At the time I was concerned that this room, adjoining suites situated mid deck would have some issues. The agent helping me on the phone said not to worry. Then closer to cruise we read some online reviews that indicated this rooms balcony was very small and that we would not be happy with it. Too late at that point to change. The reality was that the balcony is smaller as it narrows in against the wall of the suite. However it was still fine for the two of us to go out and read or enjoy the views. I think Celebrity should be upfront with people that it is a smaller deck but honestly if it is just a couple of adults in the cabins the size difference is no big deal. What we missed in size on the balcony was made up with the fact that it is a perfect location. Easy to get to anything. Right near the stairs and the Ocean view cafe is just floor up. Great to get up and grab some coffee and pastries early morning. Right across from the internet ilounge/library set up. We did not find noise to be any problem throughout.Small cabins but well appointed and the bathroom/shower was very well done.
