This review needs to begin before we boarded the ship. A little over 2 weeks before our sail date, we found out that the Silhouette was having engine problems and that they needed to skip their stop in San Juan on the 12/7 sailing. I immediately went to look on the internet and of course I found dozens of articles and reviews indicating that the problems had begun in July while the ship was still overseas. I found out that they were missing stops or shortening them because the ship was not allowed to go more than 17 knots per hour. We called Celebrity and spoke to several people all of whom either didn't know what we were talking about or assured us that there would be no changes to our itinerary. Of course when we checked in, we were handed a piece of paper that said all of our port stops would be shortened. Having booked some shore excursions independently, we now needed change our plans on each of the islands. This was only the beginning.

Even the revised schedule was wrong, as we arrived even later at both Grand Cayman and Labadee. The revised schedule indicated a Labadee arrival of 11:30. At 11:45, they announced that we had arrived, but that they needed another 45 minutes to get the provisions to the island. It turned out that we hadn't actually reached the dock yet. They told us to wait in public areas. They kept repeating the announcements because people were filling up decks 2 and 3 like cattle ready to stampede. At about 12:30 they finally allowed us to get off the ship which took an extremely long time because we actually waited in a public area.

They advertise themselves as "Modern Luxury" and try to sell you on their service. Our experience was anything but luxury and the service was substandard. Read more
