My husband and I have been following the construction of this ship since July. After reading all the Wow’s that would be coming to this ship, we had to book it for our Christmas vacation. We are not expert cruisers but are also not novices either. We have previously cruised with NCL (multiple times) and Carnival and really enjoy the server on NCL ships.

Boarding: Arrived to the port around 9:30am and was extremely confused on where to park. The parking lot for $19 a day ($133 for 7 days) was not clearly marked and we had to drive around the port once to get an idea of where it was. After walking into the building, we were immediately grabbed for photos but no one explained afterwards that we would need to see someone holding an Ipad to check in. We walked to a service desk and were told that was only for people who had not checked in online and we would need to find someone with an Ipad. Why was this not clearly marked upon entering into the building? Luckily we were able to find a gentleman who was able to check us in quickly. We were allowed on the ship around 10:15am. Please note that no restaurants or bars are open until 11am on the first day.

First impressions: Holy Hannah this ship is big and it is g-o-r-geous. The artwork is to die for. It has the feel of a big luxury hotel and the artwork of an art museum. The ship never felt busy, unless it was “sale day” in the promenade and people were fighting for $10 t-shirts or 25% off Michael Khors purses. My husband and I have been on “cheesy” boats that have a feel of a Las Vegas casino, this ship did not. Every detail down to the pillows screamed class.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D4

: Just your typical balcony cabin. No real bells or whistles. The room had a 40 inch TV that rotated on the wall which was pretty nice. Please note that all the USB’s and HDMI ports have been disabled on the back of the TV so it is not possible to plug in a Chromecast or AppleTV. The bathroom was extremely clean and kept this way throughout the entire trip. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Way too hard. I understand it will soften up once it’s used more. I had requested special items for the mini bar to my steward and was told that was not possible. On other cruises I was able to customize my mini bar. We also only received 2 towel animals. Which is by no means a big deal, but we saw other cruiser’s photos from the same trip and they received them daily. The IP phone in our room did not work either. When we would call for anything, the steward couldn’t hear us and would have to come to our room to ask what we needed. Also there are no robes in the room but these can be requested from your steward.
