This was our first cruise and we picked this trip because it was short and thought it would allow us to get a feel for cruising. We cruised for 3 days on Royal Caribbean to Nassau and CocoCay from Port Canaveral. We cruised on the Enchantment of the Seas in Room 8650.

First impressions are that the ship shows its age. There is some rust on the exterior and the interior can use an update. Cabin areas rate as a cheaper end hotel, public areas a little nicer. There is plenty to do on the ship for all ages night and day. The food and drink are abundant and the staff is pleasant and seemed ready to assist in any way possible. Be aware that even though RC advertises a non-smoking environment, this is not true. People are allowed to smoke on one side of the ship in the main pool deck and bar area. Smoke travels. We had a non-smoking cabin but someone was smoking a cigar nearby every day. We told our room attendant but he asked us to tell him if we identified who it was, that was the end of that. There is smoking in the casino too. We would have stayed and played more but the smokie environment was a turn off. We ate our meals in the Windjammer. There was a good variety of food and plenty of it. It was understandably crowded but people were generally courteous. The pool areas were nice. The Solarium is identified as an adults only area but there were kids in there every day. I only saw staff asking the kids to leave once out of the three days. Another note on the pools - kids in diapers are not supposed to be in the water. There was a diapered child in the main pool during Sunday afternoon football and not one staff member approached the parent to remove the child. This is how people get sick. I thought more attention should be paid to this type of thing. It seemed that enforcement of the smoking and diaper pool rules was left up to the guests instead of staff. Overall getting on and off the ship at all ports was easy, this includes final disembarking in Port Canaveral. Be aware "everything" on the cruise experience is geared toward getting you to spend more money. We purchased the premium drink packages and found we did not drink up to the amount we spent. You need to consume 6 alcohol drinks a day to get your money's worth. If we cruise again we will not buy this package. To sum it up we had a fun time, we were always busy and entertained, and thought we got our money's worth in everything other than the alcohol. If we cruise again we would probably choose a 5 day trip but it would not be on this ship and maybe not on RC. We also think the only reason to go to Nassau would be for Atlantis.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite with Balcony

Cabin JS

For a first time cruiser I thought this room was big enough for two people. We had a balcony and I would recommend getting one if you can. The beds are a bit small, but acceptable in comfort. The sheets on one of the beds had stains when we arrived. The sheets were changed within 30 minutes of our complaint to room service. The bathroom is doable. We had one incident where the toilet would not stop flushing. Eventually, after about 20 flushes, it fixed itself. The noise in this cabin was bad on one night. A couple cabins nearby were partying until midnight with loud music, etc. noise from above was minimal as the Solarium is up there. We could hear some carts going back and forth up there during the night hours but it wasn't too bad. We complained to staff about someone smoking in one of the nearby rooms. It was a cigar and it was every day. We were told to let them know if we identified who it was and it seemed like nothing was done from the staff to figure out who was smoking. For a non-smoking cruise I wasn't happy with this response from staff. One more note on the room, it definitely shows its age and could stand an update.
