This is by far our favorite port. We have taken several tours before, but now we just prefer to take the water taxi to downtown, and shop a little and go to the casinos. The price of booze in St. Maarten is probably the best you will find. You can play nickel slots at the casinos and get free drinks--try doing that on the ship! It has been our experience that St. Maarten has the most friendly vendors we have experienced. They do not have the hawkers that St. Thomas and some of the other islands have.

St. Maarten

We like St. Kitts and were supposed to take the rail tour around the island, but because of the azipod problem, we could not go there. We will be going back on the Silhouette in 3 months, so hopefully we will be able to take the rail tour then.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

We were going to miss San Juan because of the azipod problem, but instead, we missed St. Kitts, and went to San Juan instead. Normally you get to San Juan in the late afternoon, but we got there in the morning, and were able to take the rain forest tour. It was very good, except it took almost 5 hours instead of the 4 hours Celebrity advertises. We spent way too much time at one of the stops--45 minutes instead of about 20 minutes. Very bumpy bus and some of the roads looked good, but had lots of bumps. All-in-all a nice tour, but took too long. At about $50 each, it was pretty expensive, but then most cruise sponsored tours are overpriced. At least they won't leave without you if you are late getting back to the ship.

Celebrity is still our favorite line, but it has gone downhill since our last cruise on the Silhouette in Feb 2013, and on our cruise on the Equinox in Jan 2014.Assuming a full ship of 2886 passengers and 2 people per cabin, you have 1443 cabins (no, I did not go to the trouble to count them).
