We are platinum cruisers on NCL and could not wait for our cruise on NCL's newest ship the "Getaway." We did a 7 night Eastern Caribbean departing Miami on December 13. Loved leaving from Miami. Due to a scheduling issue, we had to fly the night before and arrived in Miami at 10:00am the morning of our cruise - We were on the ship by 11:00. The port is so close to the airport, and very easy to reach by taxi. Our check-in was very quick and easy. We met some of the friends we were cruising with and then had a really nice lunch in the Savor restaurant.

Overall the ship is really beautiful. It is tastefully decorated and has some innovations that I really appreciated. Loved being able to use the Norwegian Iconcierge on our smart phones to text and call members of our group, as well as see what was going on, make reservations and book excursions. Most of these can be done on your stateroom television or on kiosks throughout the ship. Loved the great variety of entertainment available as well as the number of dining options. We had great service in all of the sit-down restaurants, both specialty and main dining rooms - A special shout out to Rowena, one of the servers in Taste, who made several of our meals special with very attentive service.

The food on the cruise was very good. We dined the first night in the Tropicana dining room - which has a band and singers during dinner. It was really a beautiful room - though some of our friends did not like how large it was, not sure why, but we only ate there once. We ate at the Brazillian steak house, Moderno, twice. Love the wonderful salad bar selection there. For me this is the star and the multiple meats are secondary. The first night we ate there we tried all of the selections and were uncomfortably full. The second time we dined there I stuck mostly to the salad bar and had only two pieces of the meat - and I think this time it was more enjoyable (for me anyway).
