Nice to be in the Carribean in the winter but many downfalls.

Of course the West Indies in the middle of Winter is wonderful, but this can blind people to the real truth about a holiday. Many of the reviews on here have been positive, but our experiences on the ship and coming to/from the ship were not so. I believe there are many failings with this ship and a more balanced approach is perhaps necessary.

Flights with associated carrier Thomson Airways awful - too much involved with sales targets for their duty free products and extortionate tea/coffee/drinks, rather than for looking after the P&O passengers. Their 787 broke down in the far East and we were put on a 767 with a 3hr delay and chaos with ticketing for those who had booked particular seating arrangements despite Thomson having had the time to reorganise before check in (only told about seating at the Departure Gate). Despite the 6 hrs that some passengers had been waiting since the time that they had ben recommended to get to check-in they insisted on going through their sales 'patter' for several hrs rather than serving lunch to their famished passengers - just appalling Customer Serrvice, which I am surprised P&O wish to be associated with.

Because of the delays, boarding was massively rushed and we were required to immediately attend a safety briefing before we had even spent any time in the cabin and of course bags were not available till way after any evening meal, so first meal in dirty clothes was horrible.

Cabin Review

Suite with Balcony

Cabin AC

Good, but also bad - Upgraded to a Suite (at a cost) - Cabin spacious and I would not criticise cabin service. However all potential passengers who may choose a suite or be upgraded should be aware that there are noisy extractor fans adjacent to the centre suites at the rear of the ship. There is continual noise from these fans (and often undesirable kitchen smells) on the balcony and there is never quietness even when in port and the engines not running - to some extent it spoiled the holiday. One good thing from the Suite experience was the exclusive use for breakfast of the speciality restaurant '17' on the 17th deck - their service was excellent.
