I can understand others saying they "loved" this ship and the cruise. Public rooms were lovely. Crew was fantastic. Ports were interesting. Our room was well situated and we liked it, EXCEPT....as others have stated, there were ongoing issues with temperature. Our thermostat in the cabin was useless. The vents blasted frigid air. We had it "fixed" 4 times. Each time the temperature would be ok for a couple days. Then we'd freeze again. Except for the one time when it began to blast extremely hot air. Finally, the last week of the cruise, we reached a bearable temperature. Lest you think we're just picky, the cabin steward said he hated to come in to clean, it was so cold. And the people who came to check the temperature the third fix (a "new policy") showed that the temperature was too cold for what they deemed "the normal range"...Others may well "hate" this cruise. Besides the temperature problems experienced by so many of us, there were shipwide plumbing problems. People down the hall from us had to be moved out due to flooding. Others reported overflowing toilets. Other cabins had extremely loud noises during the night. In short, she is a grand old lady with attractive cosmetic surgery, but her infrastructure needs so much work, it may be time to retire her. Glad we took the cruise. Would we choose the Maasdam again? Probably not.
Good location. It was in a good position to experience minimum motion during rough seas. Plenty of storage space. But ongoing temperature problems and useless thermostat made it uncomfortable.
