12/12 Day 1 - arrived at the port at 10:45 to the usual Cape Liberty traffic jam. Didn't get to our room until 12:15. The new port setup is even more chaotic than the old one. After waiting 45 minutes we just parked the car in the lot and dragged our luggage to where we thought we could get our RFID (useless) luggage tags. There were so many people still at the port from the previous cruise getting to the luggage area was a real challenge. We then found yet another long line to drop off our luggage. We finally got into the terminal and found none of those roving agents. We found the two Diamond check-in desks staffed by ONE total agent. Waited in a long line for 30 minutes, so much for their first promise of 10 minute check-in. When we finally got to our cabin at 12:15 the door was open and one seapass was in an envelope inserted behind the cabin number sign.
Off to the WindJammer, the food selection was good, but trying to find a seat is just as bad as every other RCI ship.
I signed up for the week long Internet package that cost $194.05 for one device logged in at a time. Used my laptop and cellphone. While the speed was only 1 Mbs it really wasn't that bad. For diamonds there is no 20% discount, only $29.95 off any package.
Cabin was nice but narrow. The bathroom was great, a bigger shower. There is no tissue dispenser in the bathroom. There were two smallish closets bracketing a sofa. There is plenty of storage, including over the bed. The vanity is not RCI traditional, but it worked nicely. The end of the bed is very close to the wall like a Radiance class E3, with the curtains closed there was only six inches of space on the right side of the bed. The balcony had the same uncomfortable fabric coverings on the chairs. But it was nicely sized. I also noticed all the balcony partitions could be opened.
