Well this was my second cruise, our first cruise was on the NCL Gem and we were we were thrilled. I was skeptical about this ship as it was twice the size, I should of heeded my fears. Simply put, this ship is very poorly laid out and as a result funnels people into common areas instead of spreading them out so you are very aware of the crowds. To make matters worse the entire front of the ship is segregated off to first class passengers so it doesn't even feel like a ship, but rather its more like a shopping mall (on black friday) There is no forward bar to lookout, In fact all the places indoors have very little views if they have them at all. Instead of a feeling of grandeur you get a feeling of cattle car. Instead of grand center meeting place, they have two smaller ones, Neither have any view of the world around them and you would be hard pressed to even know you were on a ship.

The casino layout was the worst. it is in the middle deck of the {small} 3 deck open area in the middle of the ship. As a result you either have to walk through it constantly, or take big steps to avoid it. Why would you need to avoid it you say??? THE CONSTANT DISGUSTING SMELL OF CIGARETTE SMOKE PERMEATES the entire area. Never mind the completely unattractive nature I have for casinos.

The elevators were always a noticeable wait. If it was less than 5 floors we ended up walking. I really have no idea what they were thinking. the Gem had 3 elevator banks, for 2000 guests. The Breakaway has 2 for 4000 people. you do the math. Oh and if that was not annoying enough, if you pushed the up button it only signaled half the elevators, you had to put a second up button (on the other side of hallway) to summon the other half of elevators in the same elevator bank.

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BB

Cabin was excellent. The fancy interactive TV was horrible and slow.
