We are somewhat seasoned cruisers, this being our 7th (all RCI, except one on Century (Celebrity). We booked our air on our own with Travelocity. Delta's ORIGINAL flight had us leaving @ 7AM and arriving in Tampa @ 11AM. Travelocity changed it twice to LATER arrival of 1:30 PM, but still doable. The morning of the flight, Delta changed the departure by an hour later, but when we get to the airport, they didn't have a plane. Waited till 9AM, and Delta rebooked us on Continental for a non-stop to Tampa arriving @ 3:10PM. The ship requires boarding by 4PM, so it was still possible. Plane arrived late, and no baggage at either Continental or Delta. Made lost baggage claim with Continental (MAKE SURE AND DO THAT). We arrived at the pier @ 4:35 and was told "We're closed, you can't board the ship". We begged and pleaded, they finally let us through and we walked aboard the lower level's gangplank (not through the upper walkway with pictures etc.). Ship's Purser desk was VERY helpful and arranged pickup of our luggage @ the 1st port (Grand Cayman) and had it delivered to our cabin. If your luggage isn't @ the airport, you must tell the airline, so it can forward it for you, or it will go to lost/found!!!! We had purchased the Cruise Care insurance for $79 each and so were given vouchers for drycleaning (didn't use) a tux rental (used once) and they gave my wife a TOP to wear for formal nite (but it was way too large and the tailor declined to alter it). Also given were (2) small bags of toiletries (ladies shaver/tooth brush etc.). The insurance also allows up to $500 for incidental purchases of clothes etc. till your bags arrive. We're turning in $179 for (2) swim suits etc. on the claim.

Now the ship: it was VERY nice, built in '95, refurbished every 5 years, so only 2 years since last one. Service was as usual, very good. Food was good, but not the best (Main Chef onboard was British, and hence maybe somewhat blah on "cuisine"). Entertainment was one of the BEST that we had on cruises. Dancers were great, Beatle Maniacs were phenomenal, Lenny Welch can still sing well, and the English Magician (and Beatle sound-alikes_ were better at their job than the cook.

Our cabin was a Junior Suite on the Aft of the ship, Deck 8. Getting a suite on the Aft allows for a MAJOR sized balcony. Ours was maybe 12 wide X 14 long (due to slope of rear of ship). The hallway on the Port (left) side of deck 8 and about 4 cabins from the back has a PUBLIC stairway that leads to the SPA entrance and is open during the day/early evening. This allows easy entrance to the Covered POOL area and Pool Bar with Pizza ect. from that portion of Deck 8. Sorry, it only starts on Deck 8, not on decks below. Spend your inheritance now!
