Freedom of the Seas Review

Nice ship, but way too many hiccups with horrible customer service.

Our cruise was slated to be an Eastern Caribbean cruise. We were to travel to St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Coco Cay.

The evening prior to the cruise, we received an email. The email informed us (with no apology) that due to technical error, the cruise itinerary had changed and we would no longer be travelling to the Eastern Caribbean (or the Caribbean for that matter). We would now spend 24 hours in Nassau to have the boat repaired, and as result of the ships mechanical issues, we would not be able to make it to the Caribbean and be back in the 7 days. They would replace the Caribbean with Nassau, and Cozumel.

When I called to see if we could cancel or change to another cruise (I would make the drive to Miami since we spent so much money travelling from Canada to take this curse), but were told there would be no allowances for transfers or cancellations. We would lose our money if we backed out. I was told we would receive a 250.00 stateroom credit and that they were being kind since they did not have to provide us anything. $1500 for flights, $300 for hotel stay pre/post cruise, $150.00 for car rentals and $2900 for the cruise itself and were given $250 compensation and told we were lucky? Not the best start.

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

The balcony on our room was outstanding. We had a view from the aft of the ship. There was definitely an impaired view of the water due to the ships architecture, but the additional balcony space made up for it. The room itself was wider than most balcony rooms. I would book this room again. Farther from elevators, but super quiet. Our attendant was very pleasant and attentive.
