After a few days in Beijing at the Grand Mercure (very nice quiet room and great buffet breakfast) and a transfer to the port (Both not booked with Princess) we were onboard without too much waiting and straight to our cabin, which was clean and comfortable with and excellent steward, The following day we had our CC meet and greet so were able to arrange several trips ashore with fellow passengers.
After reading previous reviews of this Asian cruise we were a bit worried about the food, but have to say we had no complaints at all. We had fixed dining. We found there was plenty of choice, yes there was a lot of Asian, but that was a good thing and it was always possible to have a couple of starters. In fact sometimes my husband had 3 as he couldn't make up his mind. There was always a good choice of pasta and soup. Lots of variety and our waiting staff Belinda, Jordan and Sumit were excellent. Always cheerful, helpful and professional. We weren't so pleased with the choices at lunchtime in the dining room so usually used the buffet or pizza bar. Breakfast was also good in the buffet with lots of choice.
Did not use the spa facilities or gym but really enjoyed the pools and Jacuzzis and because there were so many of them they were never really crowded. Also the big screen showing films and shows was great.
For us the cabin was in a perfect position midship so no sway and very quiet. Fully obstructed by lifeboat but were not bothered by that as still light coming in window during day. Very comfortable bed, plenty of storage space and adequate bathroom. Cleaned to a high standard and fantastic service from our steward.
