My husband and I are both Princess Circle Elite Members, that being said we have come to expect a level of service on Princess ships that was missing on Regal Princess. Yes, the ship is new, big, and gorgeous. Regal Princess is the newest ship in the fleet and the in room TV service with large screen HD on demand programing is the best we have experienced. The ship's internet service is the best we have ever experienced. We had an aft balcony. The stateroom was the same layout and size as most Princess ships. The beds were a bit on the firm side but we did not wake up hurting. Once you get in your room you must put your cruise card in a slot to turn the lights on. It reminded me of a cheap hotel. The shower has a shelf along one edge. A great improvement for a place to put things. Water temperature was just warm even when set at 50! If you have your balcony door open, you get a very loud buzz in the cabin. The balcony it self was smaller than other Princess ships. Unless you angle your chair sideways, you feet may not fit. My size 6 barely fit, but my husband's size 10 didn't.

The Horizon Court layout was overwhelming. It took most of a 7 day cruise to figure out where everything was. There was only two self service coffee areas, one each on port and starboard sides on the Horizon Bistro. This is a hike if you sit in the Horizon Court buffet area. I say this because trying to get a server to get you coffee is nearly impossible. We went up for breakfast around 10 am and yes there were plenty of free tables but all of them were covered with dirty dishes. We had to remove dirty dishes and find our own silverware. Then I had to go get coffee. Half way through our meal one server showed up and started cleaning off tables. I have never experienced rows and rows of tables with dirty dishes and no urgency by wait staff to clear them off. The Horizon Court was clearly understaffed. The staff that actually was there would not offer help unless you came right up to them and asked for it. We experienced this same level of service or rather no service at all in the pool area and the Atrium area, We had to get all our own coffee at the International Cafe. You could not find a server anywhere. We had one lunch in the MDR and there were servers standing along the wall looking at each other. In this case there were too many servers. This was the first cruise we could not name any outstanding employee. Our cabin steward was satisfactory. Our waiter in the Crab Shack was satisfactory. No one was better than satisfactory.

Food ranged from just OK to truly awful. We made reservations for the Crab Shack since it had been great on our previous cruise on Ruby Princess. Well, the menu was the same but, the food was not. The King Crab had been sawed lengthwise while frozen, then heated up. It was like rubbery leather and inedible. The server brought more but it was just as bad. The crab may have been microwaved but it was ruined. The rest of the entree was Creole flavored peel and eat shrimp. The clam chowder was OK but not like it was on Ruby Princess last May. Everything was just a cheaper version of what we had before. The Pub Lunch Fish and Chips was great on the first day. The second Pub Lunch day the fish and chips were greasy and soggy as if the grease had not been hot enough. As always on Princess cruises, the pasta is only half cooked making nearly all pasta dishes inedible. Another pet peeve is nutmeg in the mashed potatoes. It ruins the mashed potatoes and every thing they put them in.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BE

We enjoyed the cabin. There was some vibration but nothing terrible. We would select this cabin again. Balcony was smaller than usual.
