We booked our cruise in October '06, after sailing on the STAR in July '06, we traveled with some dear friends who had never been cruising before. I will have to admit, I was a little disturbed when NCL notified us of the change in the itinerary, Acapulco is the Riviera, but after taken the cruise, and learning what I have I learned, NCL was very wise in their decision. We were notified, by phone and e-mail, before we left home and in a timely manner and given a credit and they even offered to give us a refund voucher, which had to be used by Feb. '08. NCL handled the change very well, with us.
As far as something wrong with the ship, we had cabins on the stern and there was nothing we saw wrong with either engine or azipod, both churned the water rather well, we could see the smoke, but judging what you could see looking down at the back of the ship, the engines seemed to be running well. The embarkation went smooth and we were on board by about 12:30 and right from the start I could tell this was going to be a cruise to remember. The ship was very clean, and well organized, everyone that greeted us was very friendly and you could see they were on their toes and knew what they were doing in handling the crowds.
Cruise Critic's has got to be one of the best things to pay attention to, when getting ready for a cruise. We had a great bunch of folks from all over the US, as well as Australia, and Canada. Enough just can't be said for the group, my hats off to everyone of them, they added so much! Our Meet & Greet on the first sea day, was organized by one of our members, rossbabsy, she had made name tags and hand outs, even beads for the ladies, NCL provide us with snacks and drinks, it was just fantastic, the Food and Beverage Director, The Hotel Director as well as the Entertainment Director all attended, and that first evening they even visited our group dinner and bought us a bottle of wine! Everyone needs to stay active on Cruise Critic!
