This was our 20th cruise and we stepped off the Golden Princess onto the Norwegian Star. Whilst the ship was attractive (apart from the "industrial canteen" known as the bistro), the food and dining room service was the worst we have received on any cruise ship (even on P & O). The food was over seasoned, over cooked and little imagination went into the menu. Any complaint was ignored. The dining room service was poor and rushed. As soon as your soup plate was removed the mains were in front of you. No time to savour your meal. Out of 12 breakfasts we received 2 correct orders. No bread & butter plates, no knives. no butter - the list goes on.
The daily news letter had little information about each port - just information about the approved shops.
Last but not least, a chemical smell (possibly paint thinners) spread through the air conditioning to some rooms and the theatre. I don't know what part of the cruising market Norwegian are aiming for but it certainly excludes us.
Cabin attendant was just great - worked around our needs.
