We sailed on the Celebrity Reflection Eastern Caribbean cruise from Miami to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Maarten from Nov 29th to Dec 6th. This is our second Celebrity cruise; the first was on the Equinox in 2013. This review will inevitably include comparisons between these two voyages, but we will do our best to remain objective because we realize that although these are sister ships, they have different crews and different personalities. Furthermore, these trips were of differing durations and different itineraries.
EMBARKATION
Despite the e-mail sent by Celebrity we did not encounter any problems relating to scheduled check-in times. November 29th began early for us with a 06:15 a.m. flight from Toronto that arrived early in Miami, so we reached the cruise terminal around 10:00 a.m., well before our scheduled check-in time of 12:30 p.m. The Celebrity staff didn’t seem at all surprised, nor did they make us wait to check-in. The process was fast, efficient and friendly, and we were on board by 10:30 a.m.
We usually book an inside cabin because we spend very little time in it apart from sleeping. Our cabin on deck 10 was clean and comfortable, but sickness-prone sailors should probably choose a cabin on a lower deck. On deck 10 you are well above the ship’s centre of gravity, and you really feel the effects of heavy seas. Fortunately, neither of us suffers from sea sickness. Cabin attendants Tracia and Wayan looked after us well, and kept our cabin clean and tidy.
