Sail Date: Nov 2014
Cabin: Balcony

As the title suggests, this was my first sailing on Princess. I have sailed 4 times on NCL and twice on Royal Caribbean. I knew that I would not be disappointed with Princess.

We originally booked an oceanview category, but received information from our cruise specialist about 2 weeks prior to sailing that we had be given a complimentary upgrade to a balcony stateroom! I normally sail in balcony categories, but it was my friend's first cruise and we were just trying it out. Needless to say we were already pleased with our Princess experience even before arriving at the pier!

Check in was a breeze. I was a bit worried, though. About 2 hours prior to landing at LAX the previous night, I realised I'd left my passport at home in Honolulu! The morning we set sail, I rang my company's HQ and they e-mailed me a copy of my passport from their files. The ladies at the pier-side registration were very helpful and friendly in everything, especially in dealing with my passport mistake.

Walking into the cabin, the first thing I realised was the size. There is a lot of well-utilised space! I've never seen so much hanging clothes and storage space on a ship before. Other reviews I'd read criticised the bathroom space for being small. I actually found it to be quite sufficient.
