We took the Elation from New Orleans to the ports of Cozumel and Progresso. The service we received was exceptional with friendly, hard-working staff. Everyone seemed eager to help with any questions we had. After reading many of the negative reviews of this ship I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, It is showing its age but we were impressed with the condition and cleanliness of this ship. We really enjoyed watching the ship cruise down the Mississippi from New Orleans. We drank coffee out on deck and watched the sunset with awesome views.

Very happy with purchasing the Faster to the Fun package- I would highly recommend it if you do not like to wait in line. For $50 we were on the ship quickly without waiting and our cabin was ready for us. We were on the ship by 11:30 and our luggage came only 5-10 minutes later. We had lunch, drinks, lounged on deck, and took a nap before the safety drill. The FTTF package made debarkation very easy and quick. We passed hundreds of people waiting in their zones to get off the ship and we went quickly through the checkpoints. I would purchase FTTF again without question.

We enjoy fine dining but did not expect 5-star for the money we paid for this cruise. We enjoyed meeting new people at our dining table. We noted that they really took the time to seat us with people around the same age, and traveling without children like us. The food in the dining room was good depending on what we ordered. If we did not like something they were very good about bringing something else. We also ordered more than one entree on several occasions to try different things. My favorite were the desserts- they were exceptional. A crew member told us they had a new pastry chef who has an excellent reputation. We also ate breakfast in the Imagination dining room on days we weren't in port. There was never a wait and it was well worth it. The buffet on the Lido deck is cafeteria quality food and that was fine on port days. We ate continental style and ordered omelets from the grill station. The grill station was also our favorite for lunch- the hot pressed sandwiches were delicious and worth the 5 minute wait.

Cabin Review

Cabin 6A

This cabin was roomy for two people. Our steward was excellent and we returned several times per day to a clean cabin. The decor is somewhat outdated but the shower had plenty of hot water, shower gel, and shampoo. We brought a power strip as there is only one outlet in the cabin. The tv is old but the picture was fine. It had the three major networks and a couple of old movie channels. The AC worked fine in our cabin. We both like it really cool and we were comfortable at night. This cabin is on a lower deck and in the forward section of the ship. We do not get seasick so it wasn't a problem for us but on the rough sea day we could really feel the movement and saw the waves against the window. This cabin was pretty quiet. Only one occasion did we hear people above us. It was very convenient on port days as the gangway was only one deck below.
