We are very pleased with our southern Caribbean cruise on the Celebrity Summit which visited St. Lucia, St. Maarten, Barbados, Antigua and St. Thomas. The Summit is a beautiful ship and is in overall very good condition. Some people have complained about maintenance and wear but frankly I did not see anything other then some rust spots on the exterior fittings which certainly had no impact on the enjoyment of the cruise.

I was able to book a sky suite (6117) at an extremely good rate and the extra room and amenities which come with a suite were well worth the extra few dollars, particularly since it came with an extra $200 onboard credit, one free specialty dining, and free pressing on arrival. Our excellent Butler Ryan from India served the afternoon tea daily that included choice of finger sandwiches cakes and cookies to enjoy in your room. A second afternoon service was canapés such as sushi or crackers with spreads, but we usually passed on these to save room for dinner. For some reason, there is no plug outlet in the bathroom, and only one double plug in the cabin. We had a full bathtub, plenty of towels and toiletries. The suite also had a spacious walk in closet with 6 drawers and shelves inside, so there was plenty of storage. The only minor negative was the view of the lifeboat just below the balcony.

The crew ( waiters, attendants, guest relations) were polite and friendly and eager to please. The only glitch here was the Excursion desk. We booked an excursion in Barbados that their onboard printed order form/brochure listed as $55.95. We were given a receipt charging us $79.95 each. This led to a back and forth dialogue of their claiming the price on their form was a mistake, and our countering that they should honor the printed price. They finally did, but made us feel cheap to have insisted they honor the price. When our travel companions booked the same excursion later that day, they had to deal with the girl in charge of that department who refused to give them the lower printed price. Considering that both of us together with our wives spent about $500 each on excursions I thought this was pretty petty if not disrespectful to the customers.

The bed was very comfortable and we had a small sofa and sitting chair in the cabin. The balcony had 2 chairs with ottomans and a small table.
