I traveled with my parents from Boston to San Juan. We took a Carnival bus to the port and had no problems. Embarkation went smoothly if a little time consuming. My backpack was marked with an orange tie to indicate that I had booze in my bag. I was carrying a bottle of water but the security guard wouldn't cut the tie off. Interestingly enough all of my smuggled booze in my checked luggage went through just fine:)
We aren't port people and cruise to mainly to relax on the ship. It's a lot easier to enjoy the ship when most of the passengers leave it. I was surprised to see long lines at the grill station throughout the cruise. I tried their dried out chicken fingers and wasn't impressed. I don't know why it was so popular.
We mostly ate in the dining room and the staff was attentive, friendly and did their jobs very well. We had Team Head Waiter: Sherwin; Team Waitress: Kristine and Assistant Team Waiter: Dhody. They really worked hard to see that we were happy and had everything we wanted.
Easily accessible to the elevator and it had a nice balcony. The only issue was the NOISE. It is across the hall from a storage room and close enough to the elevators that you could hear people talking at all hours.
