My husband and I and my elderly mother were booked on a Princess cruise around New Zealand which was cancelled. As my husband was already on leave from work we hopped on to a last minute cruise with Carnival Legend. It was cheap as it was last minute, however we had extra expenses to fly to Sydney to pick up the ship. When we first boarded the ship, the first thing we noticed was the outdated and overdone decor The size of the stateroom was a pleasant surprise and the dining room service and food was great however that's where our enjoyment ended.

It was out of school holiday time, however there were over 700 out of control kids on board. Their parents were holidaying to our detriment. They were everywhere, in the Casino, down the stairs in the adults only Serenity lounge, shouting loudly in the buffet eating areas, running along corridors and banging on stateroom doors. I complained about them being in the Casino as I think others did because eventually the security became more prominent and asking parents take the kids out. One problem was that the walkway to the entertainment venues etc. went through the middle of the casino, allowing them to stop and stare at poker machine players.

Another thing that was undesirable was that Carnival seemed to waste no opportunity to try to get more money out of us, We did not like photographers in our face while eating in the formal dining room, its not a photo opportunity to us. it is an annoying interuption.
