Celebrity Infinity Review

Fabulous cruise on Celebrity's Infinity

Review for the Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Celebrity Infinity

SHIP and CABIN: Although the Infinity is smaller than the Eclipse and Solstice which we'd been on, we did not really notice this except in the gym. Here, the "floor" for classes was right as you entered to get to machines. Less space for weights. Ship does have two lovely pool areas: solarium pool is a "therapy" type pool with great "faucets" in each corner to stand under with water coming down with enough force that it gives a great shoulder, neck, etc massage. Many deck chairs on several levels by the pools. On one morning of rough seas and high winds, there was some rolling - a quick Dramamine took care off that. Cabin 8046 was large with a larger than normal veranda and great location. The ship is beautiful and well laid out.

DINING:Trellis, main dining room, was excellent with a two-sided menu: items always available and those on special for the evening. Meals were so delicious and varied, we never used a specialty restaurant. Steaks and fish done to perfection. Excellent shrimp cocktail, escargot, French onion soup and sirloin steak among items available every evening. Ocean View cafe has many choices in buffet style service and, at very popular times, could seem frenetic and busy. Cafe Bacio is great for specialty coffees (fee) and wonderful pastries and cookies (free - and can be eaten there or taken to room). We always eat at Bistro Five when we first board, to avoid the crowds that immediately hit the Ocean View cafe - small fee for delicious lunch including dessert. We love the Aqua Spa Cafe by the pool area - wonderful tables in quiet area - for their "healthy alternative" breakfast and lunch offerings. Always have delicious oatmeal, a frittata, special fruits including papaya, and wonderful handmade chicken-apple sausage patties for breakfast among other offerings. Lunch always includes salads made to order, often with fresh tuna; chicken salad made with yogurt; and specials that include delicious shrimp with mango chutney.

DRESS: 15 night cruise included 3 formal nights which we love. My husband owns a tux which we bring. We did note far fewer tuxes and many more dress suits on these evenings. Non-formal nights are "smart casual". I am not a "cruise snob" - far from it - but it is easily noticeable that men are dressig down on these evenings with few jackets and far fewer ties while women seem to all be in what we used to call "Sunday's best". Why are women more dressy and men less so?

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 2

Cabin C2

Large stateroom with ample storage. Large wall of mirror makes it feel bigger. Ample hangers in closet. Comfortable bed with four pillows. Roomy shower with excellent removable shower head and excellent shampoo, conditioner, soap and body wash gel. Has larger veranda since it's on the "hump" with nice size round table and two chairs that sit straight and can be adjusted to lean back. Very quiet yet quite close to elevators. Because the Infinity is Millenium class - smaller than Solstice class - you do feel a bit of the rolling. But this cabin is located very well on the ship so that the one morning we had really rough seas and high winds, we again only felt it a bit. Excellent.
