My husband and are Platinum status and have been loyal NCL Dawn cruisers since we got married on the ship in 2004. I previously gave the Dawn a glowing review on this site. Unfortunately I have to amend that review.

First let me say that our suite was great, as was our butler and room steward. The ship is clean, well appointed and the staff is accommodating for the mot part. The shows are entertaining. Embarcation and disebarcation is efficient. That being said, our biggest complaint on this last trip was the food.

Before the cruise we had read that NCL was making changes to their free dining venues. Although we always availed ourselves of the specialty dining, we also enjoyed several dinners in the Venetian.. Especially lobster night. We were expecting an even more pleasurable experience. Unfortunately that was not the case. The quality of the dishes offered was lessened. Cheap choices, cheap quality, poor preparation. Gone was the lobster night. The only lobster to be found was over pasta in the buffet (where we never go for dinner). The food was so bad in the Venetian that we felt we had no choice but to eat every night in the specialty restaurants, which aside from LaBistro was only mediocre. Also, the chocolate buffet also disappeared. We had the feeling that NCL is trying to cut costs but it left these two loyal patrons very disappointed. We pay a serious sum of money to sail in a Dawn Suite and a fine dining experience should be part of the package, not an additional expense.

Great family suite with balcony. Lots of space. Nicely appointed.
