Just back from our 7 day cruise on the Breakaway and wondering why so many people don't like this ship! We had a a great time on cruise and found the crew, food, activities and the shows to be well above average and most things were excellent. We live in New Jersey so drove into NYC and parked at Alliance Parking which was couple blocks from the cruise lines piers. Easy 15 minute walk and parking was $154 for the week. Arrived at check in around 11:30 and were on Breakaway by 12:30.

Ate lunch at O' Sheehans and had very good pot pie, wound up eating their couple times for lunch and wings and meatloaf were good also. Room 9306, a balcony in aft of ship was ready so we dumped off our carry ons, met our room steward Gerry (who was wonderful as were all the crew we met) and toured the ship. Balcony room size was fine, put your luggage under bed and closet had enough room to hang clothes and had shelves with safe. Also 2 drawers storage under couch, and couple smaller storage shelves under tv. No doubt about it, this ship is BIG, but we thought it was very well laid out, with most indoor stuff on decks 6-7-8 and outdoors stuff on decks 15-18. I was told around 4100 people on cruise with 350 being Expedia Cruise Travel Agents. Elevators were never very crowded and actually the entire ship never seemed to be crowded. Only saw very few people at Vibe so don't know how many opted to upgrade to it. Wifey likes to do stuff (I can lay around and be very happy) and she really enjoyed all the things you could do during the day, some we did together and some separately.

We enjoyed all the shows, Burn the floor, Rock of Ages, Second City and Cirque Jungle Fantasy(dinner there was good also). Also enjoyed Justin at the piano, Fire and Ice, Jazz Club, Arvin and Emily, and their was always something going on in Atrium to watch. Only thing we didn't try was Ice Bar, everyone looked cold coming out of there but all seemed like they had good time. lol

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BX

Good cabin, I wouldn't want to try with 4 adults but why would you? Balcony small but fine, spend time reading and watching ocean go by on it and it was fine. Bathroom was roomy and shower pressure good. Bed, pillows and sheets were very comfy. I brought an LED nightlight for cabin and a battery clock that lid up at night. You can put a business card in card holder that controls power in cabin, only problem is that shows you are in cabin if you leave it in when you go. Makes it challenging for room steward to know when to clean room. Very happy with room and Gerry the room steward. He was always around if you needed something.
