Sail Date: Nov 2014
Cabin: Balcony

We sailed the Grand Princess in April 2014 RT to Hawaii out of San Francisco in the old terminal and got on in 10 minutes. I was expecting the same on this trip, but was very disappointed. Embarkation took about an hour and a half! That may have been because we showed up a little after 1, when everybody decided they wanted to board. Our friends arrived at 2:30 and almost walked right on.

The cabin was typical cruise cabin. Nothing particularly spectacular. Bathrooms are all tiny. Balcony was well worth having. Beds are hard though. I finally asked for a mattress topper on the 8th day (why did I wait so long?).

Food was generally good. We did go to the Crown Grill since we've had a great experience there in the past. I'm not particularly a meat eater but everybody else is. I ordered the lamb chops. I had a hard time cutting it with the steak knives even! Everybody else had beef and lobster that they loved. So maybe mine was an anomaly. The waitress offered to get me something else, but I didn't want to waste another entree. The appetizers and desserts were all good. Some of the sides seemed heavy-handed with the salt though, which surprised me.

Balcony

Cabin BC

Quiet cabin. Port side, so the balcony was not shaded in the afternoon when heading back north.
