First time on Royal Caribbean - usually sail on Celebrity. The ship had great entertainment - we really enjoyed it. There were fun areas of the ship - Central Park, the Promenade and the Boardwalk. Loved the various shows in the Aqua Theater as well as the comedians who were really funny! The food was absolutely horrible. Some of it was barely edible. I would think the largest ship in the world would try to be a 'class act!' I never have high expectations for myself on a cruise (food) because I'm a vegetarian....but that being said, I have always found food to eat on my previous cruises. The ONLY regular veggie entree was linguini with a horrible tasting red sauce. The special veggie dishes were disgusting - a hunk of cheese in a little dish. The rest of my family are meat eaters and the types who will eat almost anything. They ordered a steak, took one bite, and opted to eat nothing. That's how bad the food was.
The service, on the other hand, was great! Our waiters were fabulous as was our stateroom attendant. They can only do so much to keep people happy when the food is so bad.
I would never, ever return to the Western Caribbean. The ports are pretty bad. First, it rained when we were in Labadee, Haiti. That was a bust. In Jamaica, there was nothing to do if one is not into water sports. Same thing in Cozumel - although we rented a jeep and drove around the island and ate some food with the locals. If I did return - I probablly wouldn't get off the ship!
Good cabin! It's on the 'bumpout' so it has a MUCH larger balcony than normal. The stateroom was a typical room - it's a bit tight to get into the closet but there were lots of shelves and ample hanging space. The desk had 3 good drawers and some side skinny shelves. The bathroom also had some cabinet and shelf space. It had a full size sofa to sit on, too. We weren't in the room much but it was comparable to other ships. I believe it was 172 square feet. It was mid-ship so close to elevators in two directions. I would have preferred to be even closer to the elevators but it was really a good location. We chose to be on the same deck as Central Park and that proved to be quite convenient since we ate at the Park Cafe quite a bit. (Ship food was horrible so we were constantly scrounging for edible food.) I would definitely recommend this stateroom - considering the good mid-ship location and the large oceanview balcony!!
