I sailed on Carnival Destiny on Feb. 25, 2007. I am a 30 something single female and I traveled with my parents, my brother and his family (2 children) and my 9 year old cousin. (8 people in all) We had 3 cabins on the main deck, aft.
We flew to San Juan PR from Chicago on Sunday the 25th. We were relieved to find we did not have any flight delays. A storm expected the night before ended up not having quite the punch that was expected. We had a good flight and landed in San Juan. A porter saw that we had kids with us and offered his services. We gladly accepted and he saw that we got a taxi-van. We needed to stop at Walgreens for a few supplies. There was $5.00 charge for this added to the fare, but the taxi ride to the ship only cost us $40.00 for all of us. After a stressful last few days waiting to see what the weather would do it was so nice to have such accommodating service. We arrived at the port about 20 minutes later.
The embarkation process was smooth. It was about 4:30 pm and there was virtually no crowd. The adults enjoyed a few of the free drink samples. When we got onto the ship we were just a little disappointed to not find ample help in locating our cabins. Luckily, I had done quite a bit of research pre-cruise and I knew just where to find them. We dropped our carry-ons off and were getting ready to go to dinner when our bags arrived just a few minutes after we had gotten to our cabins. We made our way to dinner and enjoyed a relaxed meal. The servers seemed hurried but we wrote it off to it being due to the open seating that night. After dinner we unpacked, had muster drill, and then attended the sail-away party. We had a great time dancing and carrying on. In fact, this was the only night we stayed up past 10pm!
