Embarkation at 12.45 was busy. Security first was unusual and time consuming.Nice to be welcomed on board with a glass of champagne; lunch in the busy Oceanview Cafe was good and we were impressed by the layout of the service stations which gave more space for passenger flow than on many cruise lines. In the cabin at one thirty,we were met by our very pleasant and obliging steward who gave us first class service throughout the cruise. We had booked and confirmed Select Dining and our gratuities had been paid in advance so we were a little annoyed to find that we had been put on second seating fixed dining. Although it did take 3 separate conversations over two days to properly resolve this problem when we brought it to Celebrity's attention in writing they responded promptly and effectively.

We very much enjoyed the dining experience in the Moonlight Sonata Restaurant, the food was consistently excellent in quality and in choice and our waiters were exemplary. The food in the Oceanview Cafe at breakfast and lunch was varied, freshly prepared and mostly very good. Husband particularly liked the ice cream and free confectionery! Tea making facilities in the cabin were very good - decent tea and milk which did not taint the taste of the tea.

Enhancement activities - overall a little disappointing because they were unimaginative and the usual fare of quizzes, bingo etc with the exception of the Hot Glass Show which was absolutely fascinating and completely different from anything else we had ever seen at sea.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 2C

We had a veranda cabin on deck 8 aft. Quiet location, good soundproofing and a more generous than average bathroom compared to other cruise lines we have sailed with. We particularly liked the walk in shower. The cabin was narrow compared to other balcony cabins we have stayed in and we found it rather lacking in drawer space. A positive was that our large suitcases easily fitted under the bed. Negotiating the narrow passage between the bed and the wall could be problematic especially in choppy seas. General upkeep of the cabin was good and our steward was excellent in all respects. The balcony was fully covered and small.
