After much discussion on which cruise ship we wanted to take this year we (my husband and another couple) decided on the "fun" ship, Carnival Freedom. Last year it was the Royal Princess and in 2012 it was Royal Caribbean's, Explorer of the Seas. Just because we are in our late 50's, early 60's doesn't mean we shouldn't have lots of activities and fun.

Left from Ft. Lauderdale and embarkation was easy-peasy which is always a relief. We stopped at the buffet for lunch and immediately we were disappointed in the way they designed the flow. Big lines and cafeteria style and not just because it was sail-away day. Since there were four of us and everyone wanted something different, we could rarely eat together because it took so long to get through the lines. Food was decent, however, we often didn't try things because of the lines. Salad much of the time because it was quickest. The deli line for sandwiches, hot dogs, etc was crazy long; not enough staff. The few times we went for breakfast was also disappointing. Food not hot or cold enough.

We had late dinner seating in the Posh dining room. Great service but it didn't make up for the barely adequate food and choices. The shrimp cocktail offered is embarrassing because they are tiny. The choices were not good. Some of us are picky and some are not, but none of us were ever really satisfied with the menu.
