My husband and I have just returned from an 8 day Pacific Cruise. In general we had a wonderful time. The Solstice was a beautiful ship. Loved the cabin, more storage than I could possibly use, and the bathroom was also great, loved the shower. The bed I found just a little firm for my liking, not as good compared to Holland America, that I sailed on last year.

The food in general was good, we preferred to eat our lunches and breakfasts in the Oceanview Café, where we could serve ourselves. The choices for lunch were wonderful, although the deserts a little repetitious. We ate there on several occasions for dinner, where we found there to be a lot less choice. Perhaps they presumed most people would be using other restaurants. The added sushi bar in the evening was okay, but I found the sushi a little dry. We dined in the main restaurant at night on 4 occasions. The highlight would be a mouth watering fillet steak we had on the second night. Was a little disappointed with the special Top Chefs Menu that they had on one evening, my husband ordered the top winning strawberry dessert, to find only one strawberry at the bottom of the bowl. Surely strawberries aren't that expensive. And on another occasion we found a main selection with fish and rice, where the rice was bitter and unedible. The highlight however was the service. On one night we had to leave our dinner early before the dessert was served, as we would have missed the performance in the Solstice Theatre. The attendant asked us for our room number, and had our desserts waiting for us in our room when we returned.

Our service room attendant William on the 8th floor was wonderful, nothing too much trouble. They deserve all the gratuities they receive, as they work very long hours for little pay.

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom 10

Cabin 10

Was happy with an inside cabin. The only down side I would say would be that there was no light, so you didn't really know what time of day it was. I never really considered a balcony, most people I find don't use it often, and at $500 extra, I'd rather pocket the difference. Beautiful cabin, lots of storage, found the bed a little firm, and hot, although I compensated by turning the airconditioner on night before we retired. Very clean, and lots of storage. Also the inside cabin was the same size as the balcony
