So I had seen many of the low rating reviews of the Millennium and I thought that these reviewers were just complainers. I was going to go on the cruise (something that I had waited for nearly two years ) and I would judge for myself. Also this review is very late. Generally, I go by the old adage, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything. But I eventually worked up the strength and desire and I am writing this now, months later. Maybe the time it took to do the review has mellowed me a bit, we’ll see.
We flew to Hong Kong and were very pleased with our stay in the city. What a bustling city. The weather was warm and humid. We did a tour of the city (arranged from the hotel) and wandered around on our own. The DW did a lot of shopping. The hotel we stayed in (Marriott Marquis) was great, after the first day they remembered our names. The room was small but very clean and well appointed. Service in general was more than adequate. We had access to the concierge lounge and it was probably the best that I have ever visited.
On the day of the cruise, we took a taxi over to the port, and although we were concierge class with priority check-in, we had to wait for hours like everyone else while the ship was cleaned again (this time disinfected) because of the Noro Virus infestation from the previous cruise. It turns out that some passengers received an email telling them of the outbreak and giving them the option of cancelling the cruise. We did not receive such an email (thanks, Celebrity). When they finally started allowing people to get on the ship, it became chaotic. Passengers pushed and shoved to get on first. Despite the fact that numbers were given and they were calling out numbers, many jammed the first point of entry despite the fact that that their numbers had yet to be called and anyone was allowed to go up to the ship.
