We were on the Oct 16th sailing out of New York sailing to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, and Nassau. The sailing schedule was 2 sea days, 3 ports, 2 sea days. First thing to remember if you sail out of NY in the fall is that it is not always warm for the 1st and last sea day. The one advantage on the Splendour is that the main pool and Dive In Theatre is covered with the retractable dome. It was nice and warm under the dome both days and they can close it during bad weather. The ship design is the same as the Costa flagged Concordia Class ships. The designs inside are pink, but it is not that bad.

Embarkation; this was a nightmare. The layout in New York, if you are use to the refined process used in Florida, is slow and be prepared to wait. Plus the trip from the airport took us over 2 1/4 hours. We did same day fly in and will never do that again.

Ship; we ate in the Gold Pearl (rear) Dining room. Kostatine was the Maitre D' and he was great. He sings every night as the wait staff gets ready to do their dance. Food was good, never had a bad meal there. We ate in the Pinnacle Steakhouse one night and it was excellent!! Buffet was typical buffet fair but was still very good.The Cruise director was Malcolm "Whoo Whoo" and he is very funny. The smoking is now forbidden on the balconies so there are a lot of smokers in the Casino. They are only suppose to be smoking in there if they are playing but we never saw this enforced. The Serenity area is only on the sides of the Spa deck area and seems more on an after thought. It is nice but there are no hot tubs there and that is a real let down. Read more
